Somaclonal variation in micropropagated plants of ornamental pineapple plant Ananas bracteatus Schultes var. striatus.
This research evaluated the occurrence of somaclonal variation in A. bracteatus cv. Striatus and it’s ex vitro development.
Buds from stems were inoculated in vitro and submitted to seven subcultures and the media of the different kinds of
plantlets were quantified in percentage. The results showed three kinds of somaclonal variants: A. bracteatus Verde (80.13
%), A. bracteatus Albino (15.93 %) e A. bracteatus Variegado (3.94%). Collected randomly, twenty plants of each kind of
somaclonal variants were maintained ex vitro for 160 days, keeping their variant characteristics.
