Landscape design in the latin american megacity

The Latin American megacity is a conflictive scenario for landscape design. Vegetation, in this large, urban areas, constitutes the frame for complex social and environmental interactions. As an important element in the megacity, vegetation influence qualitatively and quantitatively on the urban landscape conditions. Interventions must preserve and increase the values of the landscape and facilitate the creation of new landscapes. Vegetation managed as a strategy of landscape improvement would be facilitated by low costs of establishment and maintenance. It can be achieved by managing the inherent changing trends of vegetation toward a structural and biological complexity in a dynamic and sustainable landscape.
