Abstract

AttheArarascampusofthe Universidade Federal de São Carlos (22º 17'S, 47º23'W) was carried out an experiment to compare the production of Dendranthema grandiflora, variety Rapture, in three greenhouses, covered with usual polyetilene film (PEBD, 150μ), PVC film (200μ), and blue PVC (200μ), respectively. Under PEBD the height of the plants was the minor and appropriate for commercial purpose, but the flowers were more discoloured by the sunlight, whereas under blue PVC the height of the plants surpassed the commercial type, but showed less discoloured flowers and a higher percentage of openned flowers. Under the normal PVC, the number of flowers and the percentage of them that openned were equal PEBD cover, but the height of the plants and the percentage of discoloured flowers were intermediate.
